"Don’t confuse motion with work and action with value creation”

By Al Norval,

John Shook in his first newsletter as the new Leader of LEI said “don’t confuse motion with work and action with value creation”. John hits the nail on the head. How many times do we see organizations furiously embarking on a new program, putting all kinds of energy and resources into it without first asking a few simple questions:

• Who is the Customer?

• What is Value added in their eyes?

• What prevents us from adding value as defined by the customer?

• How can we remove these obstacles and improve our processes to deliver more value to our customers?

Taking the time to ask these few simple questions can save much unnecessary action and lead to more value creation.
